The Left's Rush to Politicize Tragedy
Recently, I criticized anyone who would rush to lambast their political rivals over the terrible Uvalde tragedy, regardless of what side of the political aisle they stood on (you can read that article here). I stand by that statement. Nevertheless, over the last 72 hours I could not help but notice that it was often Leftist Democrats who most quickly and loudly rushed to wax politics in the midst of tragedy. A few examples:
Why is it almost always the Left that does this? The answer, as most answers do, ultimately goes back to ideology and philosophy.
The Right and the Republican Party are host to a myriad of differing ideologies and philosophies, all of which have both the same broad goals and desires for the country but also very different specific details concerning those goals and desires. Christian Conservatives, Libertarians, Objectivists, centerists, Classical Liberals, and many more all share a place in the Republican Party. These many competing ideas are at once both the greatest strength and weakness of Republicans (more on this in a future article).
On the other hand, the Democratic Party and more specifically the Left has one, singular vision and goal: give the government more power. It is the Left’s solution for literally every crisis and tragedy, and if you are not on board, the Left attacks you mercilessly. Similarly to the Republican Party’s particular mindset, this is both the greatest strength and weakness of the Left. It is the Left’s greatest strength in it is remarkably efficient to marshaling a metaphorical militia around one platform. However, it is also the Left’s greatest weakness, in that *give the government more power* is their only refrain when dealing with any and all policies.
Instead of attempting to analyze any deeper issues behind the shooting and trying to understand why it is again and again the exact same demographic (young adult males) which commits these horrific crimes, the Left can only resort to political propaganda. It is all they know how to do.
